A top UK newspaper, the Daily Telegraph, recently ran an article on weight loss. As this subject is very dear to a lot of people’s hearts, I thought I would share it with my readers… including the links to the special offers for Telegraph readers that you are allowed to take advantage of!

Do you want to lose weight and look fantastic? Following extensive interviews with successful slimmers, we discovered the top five ways to lose weight.

1. Eat Six Times a Day: It has been proven that regular eating will kick start your metabolism. Having three meals per day plus regular snacks can also help you lose a few pounds. By doing this, you can reduce your calorie intake and have less food cravings during the day. The main thing you need to do is plan healthy snacks in advance. If you plan your food a week in advance you can easily buy a wider variety of foods whilst shopping.

2. Fat Binders: Typically an adult will consume 40 per cent of their daily calories in the form of fat. With each gram of fat resulting in nine calories compared to four calories for carbohydrates and protein, you can see that by eating more fat you are more likely to put on weight.

Fat binders allow you to reduce your calorie intake from fat by up to 28 per cent, a massive reduction which will make your weight loss attempts a lot easier. It is important to use a fat-binder that is clinically proven and has sound medical backing.

Dr Adam Carey (ITV, Celebrity Fit Club), world famous fitness and nutrition expert suggests that the best fat binder to use is called Proactol™ (available at www.proactol.com): ‘Proactol™ can provide some initial support by binding dierary fat, decreasing food cravings, suppressing appetite and reducing blood cholesterol’.

Boxes of Proactol™ can cost from £22.14 for 120 tablets depending on package availability. Telegraph readers will receive a further £10 discount when quoting TELNY8.

Proactol™ (01159 79 8449; www.proactol.com/telegraphreaderoffer.html) is entirely organic, natural and suitable for vegetarians. It is made from dried cactus extract and is free from allergens, artificial colouring, flavours, salt, gluten and preservatives.

It is the market leader in the industry and has been clinically proven to help suppress your appetite and reduce food cravings, reduce your calorie intake and lower blood cholesterol levels. When used in conjunction with a healthy diet and exercise, it accelerates weight loss.

3. Good Online Site: Scientific studies indicate that if you have lots of support and a weight-loss buddy, you are more likely to lose weight and keep it off. Internet programmes help you sustain weight loss better than those who met face-to-face in a support group. Look out for a website that offers routines and online support.

You can share tips, success stories or lend support to other dieters using the interactive message board. Proactol™ offers free access to weight loss resources.

4. Eat Breakfast: By eating breakfast, you are less likely to snack on sugary and fatty foods later on during the day.

The best thing to do is overcome the reasons you have about not having breakfast and make it part of your day. If you’re too busy in the morning, prepare as much as you can the night before. If you can’t stomach anything first thing try just a glass of pure, unsweetened fruit juice, a banana, yoghurt or slice of toast.

Up to 33 per cent of adults in the UK miss breakfast every morning, meaning they may miss out on important nutrients. Many breakfast foods contain significant amounts of vitamins C and D, fibre, calcium and iron.

5. Realistic Exercise Plan: The best way to maintain a healthy weight and take care of your body is to exercise moderately. You definitely need to be realistic in your workout or exercise regime and not be over zealous to begin with. The best way to build fitness into your life is to plan ahead and get a routine going.

It is better to aim for 20-30 minutes of exercise a day. Realistically speaking, anything that gets you moving about and warms you up will make a difference.

Remember that exercise can help you reduce cravings for sugar, nicotine and other drugs, as well as boost your brain power and immune system.

A top tip is to do exercise with a friend or relative, as you’ll be less likely to talk yourself out of it.

Non-UK readers can click here for more info about Proactol in North America

There is an easy way to snatch MySpace Music without the hassle of using complex and complicated softwares and methods. This is how I have done it:

1. Download “Audacity”

2. Change the setting from ‘Microphone‘ to ‘Stereo Mixer‘

3. Make sure the microphone volume (if you have one) is on 0 (or failing that 0.1; which may slightly affect the quality, but it is very a negligible loss)

4. Go to the MySpace profile you wish to ’steal’ the music from.

5. Listen to the whole song whilst recording it with Audacity.

6. Edit the recording… deleting any parts at the start or end where there is no sound (optional).

7. Export to MP3 (or WAV) file.

There you go - easy wasn’t it?

This installment of my (ir)regular Top 10 series focuses on getting the most out of your Internet browsing… specifically Mozilla’s Firefox browser.

There are a lot of shortcuts available in Firefox, but the list that follows is what I consider to be the most invaluable shortcuts and ones that any user of Firefox should know at the very least. These are listed in no particular order, and I’m sure you have others, so by all means, leave your comments below as all hints and tips are useful

1: Automatically Complete .org and .net Addresses
OK, we all know that if we type a word in the address bar and press Ctrl+Enter it fills in the www. and the .com bits for you, but what about th increasingly popular .org and .net addresses?
In Firefox, Shift+Enter takes you to .net and Ctrl+Shift+Enter takes you to .org addresses automatically. So, if you want to go to Wikipedia, for example, type wikipedia in the Firefox address bar and press the Ctrl+Shift+Enter keys together.

2: Address Bar Focus
Following on from tip 1, you can set the focus on the address bar of Firefox by pressing the Alt+D keys together or the F6 key whichever you are most comfortable with.

3: Tabs
A terrrific aid to browsing which was ‘copied’ by Microsoft when they launched IE7. Pressing Ctrl+T opens a new tab and Ctrl+Shift+T reopens the last closed tab. This comes quite handy in case you accidently close a tab. The ‘long way’ to do this would be to go to History -> Recently closed tabs.

4: Open History in New Tab
Imagine this… you want to go to Youtube so you start typing ‘you…’ in the address bar. As you’ve been there a few times before, it shows you a list of previously typed URLs with the letters ‘y’, ‘o’ and ‘u’ in them in that order.
Now, using the down arrow key to highlight the selection (www.youtube.com in our case), press Alt+Enter and it opens in a new tab leavingyou to carry on reading the page you are on!

5: Delete Typed History
The next tip can be used as an ‘opposite’ to the above tip. For example, in the graphic below, when I type an ‘a’ in a formfield I get 3 entries. If I want to delete the 2nd entry from this auto-complete history, I press the down arrow key twice, until the entry I want is highlited, and press the Delete key. Simple, isn’t it. The same can be done with typed URLs in the address bar

6: Navigate Between Tabs
Quick and simple this one… the title explains it all. Pressing Ctrl+Tab helps you to navigate between different Firefox tabs easily.

7: Navigate Between Tabs [Advanced]
As mentioned above, Ctrl+Tab helps you navigate through the tabs in order they appear, but if you are a heavy tab user and want to go to a specific tab then just use Ctrl+corresponding tab number. For example:To go to the 3rd tab use Ctrl+3.

8: Scrolling the Page
Another quick and easy tip! The Spacebar or PageDown key scrolls down the webpage you’re on and Shift+Spacebar or PageUp scrolls up the webpage you’re on. Nothing more nothing less.

9: Open Link in New Tab
Ok, I have to admit, this is not a keyboard shortcut, but it is an excellent shortcut, nonetheless. Move the mouse pointer to a link on a webpage (or in the bookmarks list or in the Google search bar) and click the middle (scroll) button on the mouse. Voila, it opens the page in a new tab!

10: Open a New Browser Window
Yes, I know there are tabs, and I use them a lot, but I also know some people would rather open a new window, instead of a tab, so for those people, the shortcut is Ctrl+N.

I hope these shortcuts will enhance your browsing when using Firefox. Let me know if I missed some ‘good ones’, won’t you?

Google recently announced that it will soon be launching a new service/tool for worldwide users called Google Knol. Basically the key concept is to create a free open-source encyclopedia (Just like Wikipedia) where people can come and write about any topic. Google wants a tool that is somewhat a cross of Wikipedia and Social Networks.

Knol, which basically stands for a unit of knowledge, is still in development and this is just the first phase of testing. For now only selected group of beta testers can use this service but it will soon be available to the worldwide users for free.

Google will provide easy-to-use tools for writing, editing, and so on, and it will provide free hosting of the content. Authors can write about any topic they want to and each topic shall be called a Knol.

Google Knol = Wikipedia + Social Networks. Why?
Google Knol will be a free open-source encyclopedia plus it will include strong community tools where users will be able to submit comments, questions, edits, additional content, rate knols and so on.

Google Knol will not just be a free open source knowledge social network rather it will be a revenue sharing open source social network where authors of each knol will be given a substantial revenue share from the proceedings of ads on that particular knol.

Google Knol vs Wikipedia
While most of the critics think that Google Knol will be a big competitor to Wikipedia, I say different. I think Google Knol will be more like a social network with free knowledge sharing whereas Wikipedia is a just a encyclopedia which offers you free straight-to-the-point knowledge and does not allow you to discuss, question, comment on articles.

Google Knol, being a Google child, will definitely win the card over Wikipedia in SERPs but Wikipedia, being the free knowledge God, shall always rule.

What is Hulu?
Hulu is an online video on demand service that is also expected to offer video sharing. The service is a joint venture of NBC Universal. The name “Hulu” was chosen in late August, when the website went live. The service offers full-length episodes of NBC and FOX television programs, including shows from the Bravo, Fuel TV, FX, Sci Fi, Style, Sundance, and Oxygen channels. Hulu also offers selected movies. The website is currently in limited beta testing. During this test, thirty second advertisements are presented intermittently, usually in the place a normal three minute ad break would be placed.

Can anyone use Hulu “anywhere, anytime”?
Not really! Hulu is service with a slogan “anywhere, anytime” (entertainment) but actually it is a service currently being offered only to the US residents so it is not the best choice for online Television internationally.

OpenHulu! now what in the world is that?
OpenHulu is a mirror site of Hulu created by a user taking advantage of the external embed function of Hulu videos. It is not affiliated with Hulu in any way but offers a good categorized form of shows and Television series.

I want a Hulu Invitation?
If you are lucky enough to read this post in time then you will surely get your hand on the Private beta of Hulu. Otherwise you can simply go to Hulu.com and register yourself for a private beta invitation that will be mailed to you after sometime by the Hulu team. Thanks to these bunch of Web 2.0 Gods that we still have a source to grab these invitations.

We know that after Windows Vista, now Microsoft has its major focus on the next upcoming version of Windows family of OS i.e. Windows 7 which is known by the name of Windows Vienna. Windows Vienna is already in the works (we come to know this through the fact that the development of Vista and Vienna was started together initially) but we don’t know what it will look like and when it is going to come to the surface.

TechToday recently posted a series of screenshots which it claims to be that of Windows 7 or Windows Vienna. Some of the screenshots have surfaced on a site called Osbeta.org while others have been collected through a random search over the Internet.

Here take a look:

I won’t make a hard statement saying that these are not the screenshots of Windows Vienna but as far as I know Microsoft, I doubt they are going to leak the Alpha version screenshots of Windows Vienna already. That would be like giving a second big competition to Windows Vista (first one is Windows XP already)

However these screenshots do give us a hope that Windows Vienna will be something new and awesome.

How to Access Blocked Websites and IP ranges by using easy-to-use and secure tools

1. Proxy Server

Use a proxy server to access restricted sites. A proxy server (or proxies) is a normal computer that hides the identity of computers on its network from the Internet. Which means that only the address of the proxy server is visible to the world and not of those computers that are using it to browse the Internet. Just visit the proxy server website with your Web browser and enter a URL (website address) in the form provided

List of Proxy Servers

I personally recommend the following proxy sites:

Myspace Proxy

Rapidwire

Proxyping

ProxyLOL

WeSurfThe

HideMyAss

Grab

Kproxy

OurProxy

Anonr

InvisibleSurfing

Here are some Orkut Proxies too

PowerScrap

Proxy4Orkut

Proxut

OrkutProxy

ToperKut

PageMod

Recommended

Here is a cool private proxy filter owned by one of the commentators below which is still unblocked and fully accessible at any place. Just register to get a free private account to bypass firewall and access the blocked websites. Visit Detour

Well apart from these proxy sites you can bookmark the DMOZ CGI Proxies and DMOZ Proxy Lists

2. Proxy Search Softwares

Alternatively there are several softwares available for using proxies. Just search on Google to get an endless list.

Here are my favourite ones They are Free

Free Proxyway Anonymous Surfing 1.9

Proxy Server List Hunter1.78

3. Fresh Proxy Lists

You can get a list of free secure IP:PORT proxies at HideMyAss Proxy List Didnt know about that now did you?

4. Convert URL to IP

You can use this service called Web Server IP Checker to get the IP of the server on which your site is hosted, the one you want to visit using proxy.

Once the IP is in your hand type http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx in your browser to visit the blocked site, where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the IP of the web server and thats it

You can also get the IP of the webserver by using Command Prompt. Just go to Run and type ‘cmd’ and press OK. Now type ‘ping http://www.website.com’ without quotes and you will get the IP.

5. Convert IP to Decimal

If the URL to IP trick fails over some networks this is the trick you are looking for Just get the IP of the site from Web Server IP Checker and go to RedRoster. Enter the IP in the IP address field and hit calculate. You will get an address in Decimal Field. Take this and paste in your browser as http://xxxxxxxx, where xxxxxxxx is your decimal converted IP and it shall work

Surf Easy, Surf Secure, Surf Enjoy
